Dara Israel is a filmmaker with a wide variety of storytelling experience. After graduating from the SUNY Purchase film conservatory in 2015, Dara worked on a variety of both independent and network features and TV shows in the art and G&E departments. She then transitioned into post-production, working as an editor at GroupNine Media. In 2021, Dara said good-bye to the corporate world to explore underwater photography and videography and commit fully to telling documentary stories.

Dara believes storytelling is the foundation of human life, and through her films she aims to help create the foundation from which a better world can be built.

FOUNDER, PRODUCER

Allison Scherer is a documentary producer and investigative journalist whose work explores the intersection of wonder, curiosity, and human truth. Before co-founding One Breath Deep Productions, she pursued doctoral studies in Cultural Studies at the University of Chicago, where she taught philosophy at Columbia College Chicago and examined the relationship between trauma and sentimentality, memory and memorial, and the aestheticization of these experiences, and how they help form and shape identity.

That inquiry into how humans make meaning through story continues to guide her work. After earning her master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Allison turned those questions toward the real world, blending research, reportage, and human narrative to reveal the emotional and mythic layers beneath everyday life.

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Nicola Newton is a seasoned cinematographer with a decade of experience in the film industry. Beginning her career in Los Angeles as a camera operator, she quickly built a reputation working across various mediums and cities, including feature films, documentaries, music videos, and television series. Over the years, Nicola has collaborated with major studio and commercial clients such as Apple TV, Warner Bros, Amazon, and Dreamworks TV.

Currently based in LA, Nicola continues to contribute to the industry while focusing on her own projects as a Director of Photography. Her most recent work includes The Scout, a feature film shot in NYC. Passionate about creating visceral and compelling stories, Nicola thrives in bringing narratives to life, no matter where they take her.
